Financial / Tax issues with starting my own team of young baseball?
I started my own small team league baseball. When recieveing donations / sponsorship that I must give a receipt or something for their tax write off? Dose contribution benefit from radiation? Am I required to file with the IRS or something else? This only 1 team and we are seeking a total of $ 2000.00 to start. Any help would be appreciated. We're in Ohio if that matters.
You need to incorporate as a nonprofit to do it. Talk to an accountant or try www.legalzoom.com for forms, they sell online. It will take some work, because then you have to keep a report to the government. If you run a small team baseball league then the organization of Little League has already implemented this, and you must call them and they tell you how to raise funds and keep records. For example, if you started a Pop Warner football team, Pop Warner is the organization that is made up as a non-profit, not your team.
